The City of Calgary has an exciting opportunity for a lawyer with litigation experience. Reporting to the Manager, Litigation and Expropriation, your primary duties will include:

Draft pleadings and conduct questionings. Represent The City of Calgary before all levels of court. Represent The City of Calgary in all forms of Judicial Dispute Resolution. Provide advice to Law, Legal Services' clients.


Qualifications

Juris Doctor (J.D.), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or equivalent degree from a recognized institution and active membership or eligibility for membership with The Law Society of Alberta. At least 3 years of experience in civil litigation is required. Trial experience will be an asset. Proven technical, self-management skills, high energy, and self-motivation. Strong interpersonal, communication and conflict management skills. Successful applicants must have the ability to: + Identify and raise issues of concern and recommend effective solutions.

Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience
Lawyer 1: $113,000 - 141,200 per annum
(typically 1-4 years' experience)
Lawyer 2: $130,000 - 162,500 per annum
(typically 5-8 years' experience)
Lawyer 3: $156,00 - 195,000 per annum
(typically 8+ years' experience)
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
