JOB SUMMARY

The Licensing Specialist is responsible to determine the eligibility of an applicant for cannabis, special event, and class liquor licensing applications, agency registrations and cannabis representative registrations to ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and guidelines. This must be completed accurately and within reasonable timelines. The incumbent must work extensively with the public, applicants, industry stakeholders, and other regulatory bodies in a competent and professional manner and handle a high volume of inquiries.

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office. The ability to make independent decisions, and interpret legal documents such as lease agreements, land title documentation, joint venture, and partnership agreements. The ability to interpret policies, operating guidelines, and applicable legislation is also required. Strong written and verbal communication skills will ensure your success. Exceptional interpersonal skills with a comfort level working independently or within a team environment is essential. Proven ability to ensure a high level of accuracy when meeting deadlines, well-developed organizational skills, and ability multitask and prioritize work is also required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • High school diploma
  • Post-secondary education is a definite asset
  • Minimum three years of related experience
  • Experience interpreting and applying legislation, policy and guidelines.
