Air Products Canada Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Air Products and Chemicals Inc., has manufacturing and distribution operations in Quebec, Ontario, and Alberta. Air Products core industrial gas business provides atmospheric and process gases serving a variety of customers in 50+ countries, including refining, chemical, gasification, metals, electronics, manufacturing, food and beverage, welding, and healthcare.

The incumbent will be responsible for selling bulk industrial gas products (oxygen, nitrogen, argon, helium, and hydrogen) to a wide variety of industrial and manufacturing related customers and markets segments including hospitals, life sciences, laboratories, food packagers, metals fabrication, and general industrial sites. Primary responsibilities include new customer acquisition, meeting or exceeding assigned revenues and profit targets, and executing new account initiation in a timely and flawless manner. This position reports directly to the Area Sales Manager located in Montreal, QC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform professional presentations or demonstrations of company product(s)/service(s) while on-site.
  • Penetrate all targeted accounts and radiate sales from within client base.
  • Overcome objections of prospective customers.
  • Emphasize product/service features and benefits, quote prices, discuss credit terms, and prepare sales order forms and/or reports.
  • Build and foster a network of referrals to create new opportunities for revenue growth.
  • Generate and develop new customer accounts to increase revenue, by cold-calling if necessary.
  • Always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner.
  • Actively manage call schedule to adequately cover assigned territory in a time-efficient manner.
  • Maintain accurate records, including sales call reports
  • Periodically conduct information-only presentations, such as seminars, trade show demonstrations, and other efforts.
  • Make front-line assessment of market conditions and advise company Account Managers and marketing staff of findings.
  • Build and maintain ongoing awareness of new products and services, competitor activities, and other research.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Bilingual - French and English
  • 2-10 years of experience in the industrial gas business; Bachelor's degree in business preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills making sales calls.
  • Solid experience in opportunity qualification, pre-visit planning, account development and time and territory management.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert prospects and close deals while maintaining established sales quotas.
  • Professional demeanor, selling style, and appearance.
  • Success in qualifying opportunities involving multiple key decision makers.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Strong selling/closing and negotiation skills involving key decision makers.
  • Strong problem identification and objection resolution skills.
  • Product-line and industrial manufacturing knowledge.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers.
  • Exceptional verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm.
