Duties: Under the direction of the Lions Pool Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor is responsible for the oversite of the safe and effective programming and operation of the Lions Pool. The Assistant Supervisor will be knoweldgable of pool regulations, city policies and procedures and provide exceptional customer service to all members of the community. They will provide supervision of staff and patrons during operational hours and be responsible for water quality, as well as daily operating/closing procedures.

Work Performed:




Provide excellent customer service and project a positive image for the City of Stratford; being courteous and respectful to all members of the community

Take responsible action and provide leadership to protect the welfare of all participants.

Support the Supervisor in planning and implementation of training, safety drills, and staff meetings.

Support the design, organization, delivery and evaluation of Lions Pool programs.

Lead facility operations and coordinate daily set-up and shift duties for all progrems, inlcuding the Lifeguard-in-Training (LIT) program.

Coach and mentor staff to support effective program delivery and pool operations.

Communicate effectively with staff and Supervisors through weekly meetings, clear instructions, and documentation.

Ensure chemicals are stored and used in accordance with policy

Oversee completion of daily, weekly, and monthly tasks including water tests, routine maintenance, and documentation in-line with procedures.

Assume the role of Supervisor when required.

Provide coverage for shifts in the event of staff absences.

Enforce pool rules and respond to incidents.

Perform other duties as assigned.





Qualifications:

Current Lifesaving Society of National Lifeguard Service (Pool),

Swim Instructors


-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------


Standard First Aid with CPR-C/AED.




Knowledge of Ontario Pool regulartions and operations of outdoor public pools.






Specialized Skills, Abilities, Training, License, Memberships, or Certifications



Previously experience in aquatics is an asset.

Familiarity with sand filtration system and basic pool mechanicals are considered assets.

Additional certification is considered an asset, such as Aquatic Supervisor Training, Lifesaving Instructor, Airway Management, etc.

Possess knowledge and understanding of risk mitigation and safety practices when working in an outdoor pool setting.

Strong communication and customer service skills; able to build positive relationships with coworkers, particpants, and community members

A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check (Criminal Record Check) is required for successful candidates in accordance with City Policy.

Previous experience in cash handling, finances, and daily reconciliation is considered an asset.
