Job Description


Working with the OSP manager to conduct operations in the Line Foreman- will assist in the installation of telecommunication cables and apparatuses to support the Atlantic Outside Plant Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, provide direction and assist in the field with the day-to-day activities for multiple crews (2 or more crews or oversees a crew of 6 or more worked on a full time regular basis.
  • Review all work orders and project documentation in preparation for the installation of telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Review drawings prior to the start of installation to determine the required installation methods, tools and equipment.
  • Instruct crews on the project plan by outlining the order in which job procedures will be carried out.
  • Determine the equipment required for the project and ensure that materials and equipment have been scheduled and loaded for transport to the project site.
  • Identify and provide training and assistance to crew to ensure the safe, efficient completion of work.
  • Preview \xe2\x80\x9cmake ready\xe2\x80\x9d documents for each phase of project(s).
  • Accurate completion of daily tailgate, safety and risk assessment documents.
  • Ensure that all work is executed in accordance with Telecon health and safety policy including the proper use of personal safety equipment for all crew members.
  • Liaise with client representatives, the general public, and operations management to prevent or resolve any issues.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with specifications and project drawings.
  • Provide periodic coverage or assistance for emergency situations during and after normal business hours.
  • Ensure vehicles assigned to crews are maintained properly and MV requirements are followed.
  • Review weekly time sheets for all crew members with project leader.
  • Perform work on site as required.
Qualifications:
  • 5-10 Years of Lineman Experience.
  • 5 years management experience, running 2-3 trucks.
  • High school diploma or relevant experience.
  • Holds a valid class 3 license or higher w/ airbrakes endorsement.
  • Holds Work at Heights and Confined Space Entry; must be fully certified and have client pins for Work at Heights and Confined Space Entry; must be working towards a license/lineman.
  • Must have training in climbing course, electrical safety awareness, pole top and bucket rescue. If not current, then training time and cost will be covered.
  • Able to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety training as per legislative and job requirements.
  • Must be able to provide a clear criminal record check and a clean driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract.
