Hydro One /PWU are seeking qualified Power Line Technicians to work throughout the Province of Ontario. Power Line Technicians construct, repair and maintain transmission and distribution lines on poles, towers and structures. This includes patrolling of circuits, inspections, emergency repairs, repairing of street lights, distribution transformer connections, investigate customer complaints and interruptions. In addition they frame, erect, string and terminate wire buses and overhead lines supported by strain type insulators in outdoor substations. Hole digging attachments, pole setting and related equipment on line trucks are operated by Power Line Technicians.
The work consists of very heavy outdoor work and requires working at heights of over 50 metres.
Journeyperson Power Line Technician base rate pay is $59.60 per hour. In addition, 10% Vacation and Statutory Holiday Pay, Extended Health Benefits Plan and a RRSP Retirement Fund

Powerline Technicians construct, operate and maintain transmission and distribution lines. Their primary duty is to maintain power service to Hydro One customers.
A Powerline Technician is capable of erecting towers, poles and structures for power lines. They install and maintain overhead, underground and submarine conductors as well as all associated equipment. These include transformers, regulators, re-closures, sectionalizers, capacitors, airbreak switches and fused cutouts. Powerline Technicians also troubleshoot and restore electrical power during emergencies.
Applicants for this position must have successfully completed a Red Seal Certification or equivalent.
