MARU Japanese Bistro is looking to grow our team with passionate and dedicated individuals who are committed to working in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Reporting to the Head Sushi Chef, the Sushi Cook learns, prepares, and creates innovative and signature sushi dishes served at MARU.Responsibilities

  • Maintain kitchen areas with special attention to sanitation
  • Exhibits culinary talents by performing day-to-day tasks, producing menu items
  • Utilize various kitchen skills and cooking methods to meet brand standards
  • Evaluate quality of food product, prep items and final menu items being served to guests
  • Monitor food temperatures. Report any discrepancies
  • Collaborate with servers and bar staff to welcome guests
  • Comply and action all health, food safety and hygiene standards and policies
  • Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1-year experience
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
  • Experience in Japanese cuisine is an asset
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
  • A passion for Japanese and Asian culinary art and flavours
