Title: LINC Instructor

Start Date: September 22, 2025

Job Type: Full-time ( 25 hours/week)

Pay Rate: $38.00 - $40.00 per hour

Location: In-person, Toronto, ON

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM

(No classes during Summer, Winter Break, and March Break)

Position Summary

Somali Immigrant Aid Organization (SIAO) is seeking a qualified and passionate LINC Instructor to provide English as a Second Language instruction to adult newcomers. The successful candidate will integrate Portfolio-Based Language Assessment (PBLA) into the classroom, deliver learner-centered lessons, and adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learner needs.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging ESL instruction to adult newcomers in accordance with LINC program guidelines.

Incorporate PBLA in lesson planning and student assessment.

Assess learner progress using the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB).

Utilize technology and instructional tools (Smartboard, Zoom, Tutela, Ellii, Avenue/LearnIT2Teach).

Create a supportive, inclusive, and culturally sensitive learning environment.

Qualifications

Valid TESL Ontario Certificate.

Minimum 2 years of ESL/LINC teaching experience with adult newcomers.

Post-secondary degree/diploma in Adult Education or related field, or equivalent education/experience.

Training and experience with online/blended teaching an asset.

Strong English communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.

Ability to adapt instructional strategies to varying learner levels.

Recommended Certifications:

Introduction to PBLA for Classroom Instructor Certificate.

Avenue Instructor Bootcamp Certificate.
