The LINC Instructor is accountable to the Department Manager and is responsible for the efficient and effective implementation of LINC (Language Instruction to Newcomers to Canada) classes and the duties that allow for quality language instruction for newcomers to Canada (LINC) programming. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide instructional expertise using a variety of classroom delivery methods (in-person, online, and hybrid) and strategies appropriate to the student\xe2\x80\x99s CLB levels
Plan and implement theme-based lessons which are comparable to the high standard of instruction set out by the LINC Instructional Team as well as the requirements of the Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) specifications
Deliver task-based, real-world assessments and learning activities in all four skill areas (reading, writing, listening, and speaking)
Contributes to the organization and LINC program via coaching, and mentoring others
Maintain internal resource database
Maintain appropriate records of student attendance, current Canadian Language Benchmarks, progress reports, and assessment records according to the PBLA requirements
Provide appropriate feedback to students regarding their strengths, weaknesses, and overall progress
Be familiar with computer programs used in ESL instruction and provide planned and supervised computer time for students as per class schedule
Manage all record-keeping effectively and submit paperwork (such as training history forms, monthly reports, etc.) in a timely and efficient manner
Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning; Use a variety of learning aids, equipment, or tools to assist in the facilitation of learning (e.g., whiteboard, online materials, Avenue.ca, ESL websites, TUTELA, YouTube)
Maintain a high level of knowledge of non-LINC programs and services at CIWA to better serve the needs of LINC students
Attend and participate in CIWA events, LINC field trips, individual and group meetings/ training
Flexible and highly adaptive instructional style
Uses electronic calendar to plan regularly occurring daily, monthly, and yearly meetings and activities

QUALIFICATIONS
Recognized degree in Teaching English as a Second Language, Education or Linguistics
Completion of teacher training program(s) recognized by TESL Canada or a combination of education and experience and/or professional training in education equivalent to TESL Canada accreditation standards
Knowledge of Canadian Language Benchmarks and completion of CLB Bootcamp and Intro to PBLA training
Formally trained and PBLA certified
1-2 years of experience using the Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) framework in LINC classes
Knowledge and experience of using Avenue.ca
A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience \xe2\x80\x93 online and in-person
Strong computer skills
Expertise in MS Office, Teams, and Zoom
Knowledge and appreciation of cultural diversity
Experience working with newcomers to Canada
Strong teamwork and leadership skills
