TMG is seeking a motivated and responsible individual for full-time employment in the position of
Lighting Director.
The Lighting Director will be responsible for all production lighting design and implementation. LD will work with CCO and Directors to establish and maintain lighting consistency for all productions.
This role requires a high level of lighting skill, technical skill and production efficiency. It also requires strong communication and flexibility to work in a fast-paced news environment. The nature of the work varies greatly and can include commentary programs and panel discussions. The role of the Lighting Director starts at the planning stage, well before the program is in production. The planning stage may include co-ordination of video content to be displayed, and the screen technology needed for this. The Lighting Director will decide on power and cable requirements.
Role and Responsibilities
:
You are responsible for lighting multi-camera TV productions both in studio and on location with well-balanced lighting levels to suit the requirements of the cameras being used.
You will create the colour, texture and aesthetic mood of a TV show for all studio shoots, utilizing a vast array of LED panels and lights.
You use a variety of lighting and effects to focus attention on the action and enhance or reduce colour, sharpness, softness and form integral to set design.
You create plans for each studio program detailing how the set or shots will be lit to create the right effect. This includes selecting the type of lights required, as well as their positioning.
You will work with other crew, as well as the lighting console, to set up the lighting and make sure everything works.
After design, you will program each show into the lighting board to create an effortless and efficient transition from one program to the next.
Able to understand the director and producer's creative vision and develop strong leadership skills to communicate to other staff.
Assist in set dressing, equipment set up and any other tasks assigned to you by the producer or director.
Perform tests and clean equipment to secure proper working condition.
Assist in maintaining all areas related to the studio and equipment.
Requirements:
College or University degree/diploma in film studies, broadcast or demonstrated history in the field
2+ years experience working in the field as a Lighting Technician, Board Operator or Vision Engineer
Portfolio of work
High level of technical expertise
Capacity to work in a fast-paced team environment as well as individually
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Attention to detail
