About the Role


We are hiring a dependable Light & Sound Technician to run the audio, lighting, and fog effects for our outdoor Midway stage each night. You will keep music and microphones live, ensure spotlights and controllers are correctly set, troubleshoot fast under pressure, and leave the booth clean and show?ready for the next shift.

What You'll Do



Run pre?show, mid?show, and post?show music every night with clean, consistent levels. Configure and operate lighting: confirm the correct mode for each fixture (manual/standalone vs. DMX), set addresses/patch, and test pan/tilt and dimmer functions. Perform microphone checks, set gains, prevent clipping, and stage spare batteries so change?outs take seconds, not minutes. Place, test, and operate fog/haze units from the booth; balance atmosphere with sightlines and safety. Route and secure all power and XLR cabling; tape or ramp any crossings and eliminate trip hazards. Complete a simple

before doors and a tidy

tear?down

after close (power?down, coil/rack cables, secure mics/controller, quick photo of the booth). Communicate on radio with Ops and Show Caller; respond immediately to cues and issues. Work outdoors at night in all weather and keep a professional, guest?focused demeanor.

What You Bring



Hands?on experience with live event audio and basic lighting (community theatre, nightlife, concerts, or attractions). Working knowledge of signal flow (power ? mode ? signal), XLR connections, speaker placement, and basic EQ/gain staging. Familiarity with DMX controllers and addressing; comfortable switching fixtures between controller and manual modes. Strong troubleshooting skills, calm under pressure, and able to make safe, fast decisions. Ability to stand/walk for several hours, climb ladders safely, and lift/coiI up to ~40 lb. Reliable transportation to Abbotsford and eligibility to work in Canada. Bonus assets: QLab or DJ software familiarity, outdoor event experience, basic electrical safety, first aid.

Schedule



Evenings and weekends, with extended hours the week of Halloween. Typical call time is late afternoon; you remain through post?show tear?down.
