POSITION SUMMARY:




KEY DUTIES PERFORMED:



1. Supervising and coordinating lifeguard activities and rotations.

2. Ensuring the safety of patrons by actively scanning designated areas and responding to



emergencies.

3. Provide guidance and support to the lifeguard team members.

4. Conducting regular equipment checks and maintaining a safe aquatic environment.

5. Enforcing facility rules and regulations to promote a secure and enjoyable experience for all patrons.

6. Assisting with training sessions and orientations of new lifeguard staff.

7. Collaborating with management, or designate, to develop and implement safety protocols and



emergency procedures.

8. Communicating effectively with patrons and staff to address concerns and maintain a positive



atmosphere.

9. Responding promptly and appropriately to incidents, accidents, or medical emergencies.

10. Complete necessary paperwork, incident reports, and documentation as required by facility policies



and procedures.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS:





1. Completion of Grade 12, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. Current National Lifeguard Award (Pool Option).

3. Current Standard First Aid, Level C CPR (OFA Level 1 equivalent)

4. Current Lifesaving Swim Instructor Certification.

5. Current Lifesaving Instructor Certification.

6. Pool Operator 1 certification from a recognized organization.

7. Must have 1000 hours of lifeguarding and swim instruction experience.

8. Physical agility and ability to complete duties as required.

9. Ability to maintain harmonious relationships with all members of the public and other staff members.

10. Compliance with and approval of Security/Reliability Clearance and Criminal Record Search

11. The ability to perform all the duties outlined in a safe manner following established Facility





Procedures, Occupational, Health & Safety Rules, and Violence in the Workplace policies and WCB


Regulations (i.e., WHMIS).


DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:





1. Aquatic Fitness Instructor from a recognized provider.

2. Pool Operator Level 2 from a recognized organization

3. National Lifeguard, First Aid Instructor, or Trainer Certifications

4. Apprentice Supervisor designation through the Lifesaving through the BC/Yukon Branch

5. Supervision Evaluation & Enhancement (SEE) Course

6. Aquatic Supervisor Training Course (AST)
