Lifeguard & Swim Instructor (Part Time)

Salary: $16.40/hour - $19.66/hour
Start Date: Immediately

What qualifications are we looking for?
At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals.The successful candidates will have the following;
National Lifeguard - Pool certification
Standard First Aid (recertified within the last 36 months)
CPR C certification (recertified within the last 12 months)
YMCA Swim Instructor, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, or Swim for Life Instructor certification
Lifesaving Instructor would be considered an asset
Should be able to work morning shifts
Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search
Three professional references
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Lifeguards and Swim Instructors will:
\xc2\xb7 Ensure a safe aquatic environment by following National Lifeguard standards and/or YMCA Policies and Procedures;
\xc2\xb7 Demonstrate exceptional customer service;
\xc2\xb7 Are knowledgeable of YMCA programs and services;
\xc2\xb7 Complete administrative tasks, update class rosters, lesson plans, check equipment, clean equipment, perform light maintenance tasks when not guarding or instructing;
\xc2\xb7 Perform all scheduled water tests;
\xc2\xb7 Keep pool area clean and organized;
\xc2\xb7 Respond to emergencies according to National Lifeguard standards and/or YMCA Policies and Procedures;
\xc2\xb7 Work as a team, communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and members in all situations;
\xc2\xb7 Attend all scheduled in-services;
\xc2\xb7 Attend all necessary YMCA training.
