Great Blue Resorts owns and operates 10 private resort lakefront properties located throughout Ontario's cottage country. These properties offer outright ownership of beautiful pre-manufactured seasonal recreational cottages. Our resorts have full facilities including community areas, swimming pools, splash pads, multi-sports courts, playgrounds and beaches.



Lifeguard Role Overview



The Lifeguard role in Great Blue Resorts is fundamental in the overall success of the business. This Position is key to ensuring safety and accident prevention in and around the pool area.

This Lifeguard position is responsible for enforcing rules and regulations, maintaining order in designated area as a proactive approach to ensuring safety.

Skills & Qualifications



A Lifeguard requires the following skills

Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques. Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork. Knowledge emergency medical procedures. Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions. Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures. Strong swimming skills. Observational skills. An excellent level of concentration. Strong communication skills, especially in an emergency. Should be capable of lifting and transferring 15 - 30 kgs. in a safe manner;

A Lifeguard must hold current:



1. Lifesaving Bronze Cross

2. National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Certificate

3. CPR & First Aid Certificate

4. Criminal Records Check



Responsibilities/Accountabilities



The Lifeguard role primary role is the health and safety of owners and rental guests.

Responsibilities:

1. Concern for health and safety

a. Maintains constant surveillance of guests in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of guests in the event of emergency.

b. Acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of guests in the event of emergency

c. Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.

d. Clearing the pool in case of thunder, lightning and rain

e. Promotion of safe swimming habits and attitudes

f. Maintains requirements in accordance with the local municipal Health and Safety standards

g. Preforms and records pool chemistry checks, numbers and any other factors that affect poolside safety

h. Responsible for the vacuuming of the pool/s

i. Provides a safe, clean and organized pool area

j. It is important that you keep your pool, pool deck, and restrooms in clean and neat condition. In order to ensure proper maintenance, below is a list of tasks to be regularly completed during your shift.



1. Pool and Pool Deck

a. Keep the pool clear of all debris and toys/floats. These should be removed from the pool when not in use or when left by owners and guests. All pools are equipped with a skimming net to remove leaves from the pool. The pool skimmers function more efficiently when manual skimming is performed regularly.

b. Keep the pool deck clear of leaves and toys. Some facilities have leaf blowers, which should be used when necessary.

c. Most facilities have a bin, or a storage area to the same effect, used as a lost-and-found. Place toys, towels, etc. neatly in designated bins or areas.

d. Empty the trash cans when they are half full and replace with clean liners.

e. Organizes, wipes down tables and chairs, put up umbrellas

f. Checks emergency phone for service



2. Restrooms

a. Ensure that all restrooms are fully stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, can liners and soap.

b. Pick up trash found on floors and counters.

c. Flush & Clean toilets

d. Empty trash cans and replace liners.

e. Wipe down sinks and counter tops (and mirrors, if necessary).

f. Mop floors daily and when it is necessary.



3. Customer Service

a. Promotes cold drinks, food items

b. Perform outstanding customer service to our cottage owners and swimmers

c. Greets, acknowledges, engages and interacts with cottage owners

d. Creates a safe and inviting experience for all participants

e. Initiates, develops and maintains positive relationships with cottage owners

f. Responds to cottage owner's questions, comments and concerns in a quick and efficient manner

g. Maintains a positive attitude in their actions through a display of courtesy, service, cooperation, hospitality, sensitivity and professionalism to internal and external customers and cottage owners



4. Maintaining of Pool side and Surrounding areas

a. Responsible for opening and closing the pool daily including:

i. Set up and take down of any pool side chairs, loungers and umbrellas

ii. Set up and take down of any chairs and loungers in the surrounding pool area

iii. Assistance with washroom floors, keeping them clean and free of any obstacles for our Owners and Guests and cottage owners

iv. Maintaining the information board with pool rules and announcements



5. Performing Pool Side Activities

a. Aquatics and children's activities
