Position Overview



The

Life Enrichment Specialist (LES)

provides compassionate, person-centered support for individuals of all ages and abilities. LES team members play a vital role in

community reintegration, therapeutic coaching, respite, and companionship

. They help clients engage in meaningful leisure experiences, both independently and alongside family members or care partners.

While the role is

not clinical recreation therapy

, it is informed by the same core values of dignity, engagement, and wellbeing. The LES works in collaboration with families, Recreation Therapists, and Recreation Therapy Assistants to bring JJRT's philosophy of

Leisure as Living

to life in community settings.

Core Responsibilities



Support clients in

community-based leisure and recreation experiences

, promoting inclusion, engagement, and confidence. Provide

respite and companionship

to individuals and families, ensuring emotional safety and dignity of care. Encourage independence and participation through strength-based coaching and supportive facilitation. Assist with

community reintegration

, including skill-building, transportation, and participation in local programs or outings. Communicate effectively with families, team members, and supervisors to ensure continuity and quality of care. Maintain accurate documentation, attendance, and progress updates as required. Uphold JJRT's values of

in every interaction. Participate in team meetings, reflective practice, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications



Applicants must have education and/or certification in one or more of the following fields:

Child and Youth Care (CYC)

Early Childhood Education (ECE)

Recreation Therapy Assistant (RecTA)

Developmental Service Worker (DSW)

Social Service Worker (SSW)


Additional Requirements:



Current

CPR & First Aid Certification

BMS or CPI Training

(Behavioral Management / Crisis Prevention Intervention)

Vulnerable Sector Check

(within 6 months)

WHMIS Certification

Valid

G Driver's License

Reliable, insured vehicle

suitable for client transport Ability to support individuals with mobility needs or adaptive equipment Comfortable working flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed

Compensation



$25-$35/hour
