Job Summary


Are you a dynamic and creative individual who has a passion for leading engaging programs and working with seniors including those with dementia? We are seeking such an individual to join our team in providing excellent service in our seniors retirement community. The ideal candidates will support the planning, organization and delivery of meaningful programs for residents and guests to enhance their physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing.

Responsibilities



Support the planning, organization, delivery and evaluation of meaningful activities relating to the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of residents and guests Lead and promote resident awareness and participation, in leisure, social and recreation programs that meet their needs and interests Assist with the maintenance of appropriate records including attendance, assessments and evaluations of planned programs and charting Maintain effective communication and good human relations with residents, guests, families, volunteers and staff including keeping them informed of current and upcoming events Assists in the direction and supervision of participants in volunteer and student placement programs Coordinate the transportation of participants to and from outside events including driving a company vehicle when needed

Qualifications



Energetic, compassionate and caring person who enjoys working with seniors Diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in the field of Recreation, Physical Education, Kinesiology, Leisure Studies and/or Gerontology is considered an asset Prior experience in recreation programming for a senior population is preferred Valid Serve It Right certification Valid Forever In Motion Leader Certification Proven computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite is required Literacy with Canva Graphic Design Software is considered an asset Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language Able to work with minimal supervision and possess a strong ability to problem solve Able to multi-task and work well independently and in a team environment Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check Must possess, or be willing to obtain, a valid Class 4 Drivers License Driving record that meets companies insurance requirements Willingness to transport individuals using company vehicles
Schedules may include some day, evening and weekend shifts

Pay: $17.50 per hour
