LICENSED PROGRAMS

Our programs implement a whole-child philosophy in a play-based environment. The whole-child approach recognizes, supports, and nurtures all areas of children's development, including social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional. Our programs ensure the implementation of a whole- child philosophy by offering a balanced curriculum utilizing Flight: Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework, an Emergent Curriculum and a Traditional Calendar model. By implementing a whole-child approach, the program is able to meet the children's needs in a holistic manner, empowering them to engage and thrive at the program, at home and in the community.

The Glencoe Club is recruiting for an experienced, educated, creative, supportive and responsible educator to work in the Licensed Out of School Care Program, children aged 5 to 9 years old. This is a part-time position with an expected temporary layoff period from the end of June to the end of August each year. The OSC educator position is part of the Front-Line Team of the Club and oversees delivery of the Licensed Out of School Care Program at The Glencoe Club. The OSC educator will provide a safe, caring, stimulating, active and educational experience for children and their parents utilizing the superior sport venues and facilities within the Club.

Responsibilities:

Create an engaging learning environment, supported by children's development and documentation in cooperation and collaboration with co-educators, Team Lead and Director Responsible for communications to members; including phone calls and working with the Creative department for signage and marketing of the activities and calendar events in the Programs Confident in child development and skilled in the implementation of positive, proactive behavior guidance and management strategies Confidently lead cooperative games, creative art activities, unique play ideas and various experiences with children Ensure compliance with Glencoe Health and Safety standards, Alberta Licensing Standards, and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations

Qualifications:

Diploma, Degree or Certificate in Early Childhood Education, with a minimum Level 2 Alberta ECE certification is required. ECE Level 3 would be considered an asset Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a licensed preschool or early learning program, with a demonstrated ability to deliver quality care, support child development, and engage positively with families and colleagues Understanding of Emergent Curriculum, based on children's interests, needs and abilities; experience with Alberta's FLIGHT Framework considered a valuable asset. Current certification in First Aid/CPR "C"/AED; Childcare First Aid/CPR is required Knowledge of and ability to adhere to Alberta Child Care Licensing and Alberta Health & Safety Standards. Ability to maintain a positive early learning environment that is physically and emotionally safe and respectful to children with the focus on assisting in the growth and development of children's communication and language skills, and social, emotional, physical, creative and mental reasoning skills and abilities

Additional Details:

This is a

part-time permanent

position, reporting to the Licensed Program Team Lead

The required shifts are:

Monday to Friday: 2 PM to 6 PM
Occasionally, additional hours may be required (I.e. on Professional Development Days).
