Functional Description:



The Licensed Practical Nurse is a key member of the Shift team. Working as part of a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team of care providers, you have shared responsibilities towards ensuring the daily health and wellness needs of our clients are met. Individually, you are well-versed on the delivery of nursing care through observing, assessing, monitoring, and documenting client condition and concerns or progress.

Task Responsibilities:



As a member of the care team, the LPN is responsible for planning nursing care as required by unique client needs while adhering to recognized nursing techniques, procedures, and established standards based on the scope of practical nursing.

Utilize nursing knowledge and skills implementing basic preventative therapeutic and rehabilitative nursing care of clients. Perform delegated independent nursing functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards. Perform selected tasks related to patient care and the patient's environment in a safe manner. Maintain and coordinate communication between client, family, staff, and other health care professionals. Assists with the development, implementation, and evaluation of resident care plans. Collect and maintain client records; document pertinent observations and interventions on appropriate records. Administer medication accurately, observing patient response, as evidenced by documentation in the medical record. Assist with clients' daily care and hygiene routine, including bathing. Give timely change of shift report consisting of pertinent and relevant information Report client needs or possible problems/changes regarding client's condition to the Manager. Assist clients and family members with concern and empathy and with respect to their confidentiality and privacy. Assist in the training of new Team Members. Follow proper reporting procedures for actual or potential accidents and/or incidents to ensure follow-up and prevention. Record and report the need for maintenance or repair of equipment and remove any faulty equipment from use. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Attend required staff development programs per year and all scheduled mandatory training programs. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them from appropriate books and manuals. Participate in team meetings, providing input and suggestions

Exceptional interpersonal, team and conflict resolution skills with an ability to collaborate effectively with internal/external stakeholders, residents, and their families Demonstrated knowledge of medical practices including administration of medications Demonstrated knowledge of nursing care plans Other areas of demonstrated knowledge include positive behaviour management; substance abuse and mental health management; managing symptoms of FASD; ability to communicate with people who are non-verbal; ability to teach and support continuance of life skills training methods; and awareness of community resources Above average empathic listening and communication skills (verbal and non-verbal) The ability to ensure client confidentiality and maintain a non-judgmental approach Knowledge of Inuvailuit and Gwich'in culture is an asset An understanding of the intergenerational and gendered impacts of residential schooling Ability to participate as a member of a multidisciplinary, integrated team environment Ability to function effectively and maintain clear boundaries in a residential treatment environment serving clients with complex needs Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. High level of organization and time management skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites and Microsoft Windows software.

Qualifications



Graduation of an accredited Practical Nursing program. Recognized Pharmacology course and experience in the administration of medicines. A minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience in a continuing care, hospital, long-term care, or similar environment. Responsible for providing a clear criminal record check, vulnerable sector screening, up to date immunization record including proof of full Covid-19 vaccination, as well as clear tuberculosis skin test.

Compensation



$40/hr + Seven Dollar Northern Allowance

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: Up to $47.00 per hour
