Your Opportunity:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Day Surgery/Short Stay Multifunctional department you will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures on an outpatient and inpatient basis. Collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists and other healthcare professionals you will ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of patients throughout their surgical experience. Your duties will include pre-operative assessment, post-operative care, patient education and discharge planning. Key responsibilities will include pre-operative evaluation of medical histories physical and psychological status, prepare patients while ensuring appropriate consent and pre-operative protocols are followed, medication administration and post-operative monitoring, educating patients and their families around post-operative care and follow-up instructions as well as participation in ongoing professional development opportunities.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent Surgical Experience within the last 3 years. Experience working with Netcare and Connect Care.
