The Medicine Unit Nurse: Plans and implements patient care services to patients/clients or groups thereof, based on facility standards, guidelines, policies and procedures. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, provides nursing care including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, documentation and communication of same. Demonstrates and practices knowledge of current principles, techniques and procedures within specified guidelines. Demonstrates knowledge of guidelines as set out by the licensing body and performs duties accordingly and within established scope of practice. Provides clinical assistance and direction to other members of the patient care team, as appropriate. Provides safe, quality nursing care as directed. Able to prioritize patient care according to level of acuity. Shift work as required. Requires lifting as part of patient care. Performs other duties as required. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.Description:As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:1-3 years medical/surgical nursing experience required. Additional certification and/or courses may be required. Preferred Qualifications:Recent palliative care training. Recent complex wound care training. Recent supportive pathways training, or other relevant dementia training.
