This position supports community-based health service delivery across Edmonton and surrounding areas. The Licensed Practical Nurse will work collaboratively with Red Road Indigenous Health Services and Station Pointe Pharmacy to deliver medications, support onsite medical clinics, and provide care within transitional housing and First Nations communities. The role is part of an interdisciplinary medical team that includes prescribing therapists, psychiatrists, pharmacists, and a medical office assistant.
Primary Responsibilities
Deliver and dispense medications within the community, including controlled substances, in accordance with provincial legislation and organizational policy
Support onsite medical clinics in Indigenous led transitional housing settings
Provide clinical support during service delivery in First Nations communities
Work collaboratively with prescribing pharmacist, psychiatrists, and the medical team
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and medication records
Travel within and including a 100km radius of the Edmonton area to meet program and service needs
Required Qualifications and Registration
Completion of an approved Licensed Practical Nurse education program
Current registration and good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
Eligibility to practise as an LPN in Edmonton, Alberta, without conditions or restrictions
Demonstrated competence in medication administration and dispensing, including controlled substances
Current Basic Life Support certification
Professional liability insurance appropriate for LPN practice in Alberta
Additional Role Requirements
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence
Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Edmonton area
Use of a work provided vehicle for community travel
Availability to work weekends
Due to safety and operational requirements related to community-based travel, this position requires a male LPN, consistent with a bona fide occupational requirement
Preference
Preference will be given to Indigenous applicants
Hours of Work
Monday to Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Full time position at 40 hours per week
Schedule is 5 days per week, with some weekend work required. Schedule is flexible and will be negotiated with the successful applicant
Compensation and Support
Hourly wage of $28.03 per hour / Annual salary $58,240
Work vehicle provided
Clinical and administrative support from a multidisciplinary medical team
