Reports to:

Registered Nurse

Status:

Unionized; UNIFOR local 4620

Wage:

$24.19 - $31.48/hour with shift premiums of $2.35/hour for shifts between 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and weekends, plus time and a half for shifts worked on holidays.

Schedule:

Provide your availability a month in advance and enjoy a flexible schedule of 8-hour shifts - days, evenings, nights, and/or weekends. Keep in mind that you may often be called in with short notice.

Job Summary:

As an LPN, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care to residents. Your responsibilities will include administering medications, assisting with daily activities, monitoring health conditions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure residents' well-being. With a focus on dignity, respect, and person-centered care, you will help create a safe and supportive environment where residents can thrive.

Functions and Responsibilities:

Administer medications as per Cove policies and protocols. Adheres to organizational documenting and reporting policies. Take initiative to complete tasks in a timely manner. Communicate effectively with others including residents, co-workers, Management, families and the public. Demonstrate leadership in mentoring and supervising. Follow appropriate chain of command when resolving workplace issues. Actively seek opportunities for personal learning and professional development. Maintain confidentiality in dealings with residents, staff, and Management. Demonstrate flexibility in handling changes in service demands, both in type and quantity. Responsible for carrying out other duties as may be required by the LPN and as determined by the Director of Resident Care.

Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Current certification of registration with NSCN required. Certification in "C" Level CPR/First Aid. Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices. Strong clinical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to think critically, problem solve and make decisions. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team. Ability to adapt to change including new tasks and technologies. Availability to work a schedule of flexible hours and all shifts inclusive of days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis. A clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check is required as a condition of employment. A functional assessment is also required as a condition of employment to confirm your ability to meet the physical demands of the job. This will be arranged for you at a later date.

Working Conditions:

Ability to continuously walk, stand, bend, twist, reach, and move quickly for extended periods. Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. Fine motor skills with precise hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
