to join a dedicated 24/7 care team supporting an elderly female client living with
advanced Parkinson's disease and complex medical needs
.
This position is ideal for nurses who combine strong clinical ability with empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to providing
person-centered care
in a sensitive and emotionally nuanced environment.
Client & Care Environment
The client resides in a
supportive living community in NW Calgary
and is supported by an experienced interdisciplinary team that includes nursing, therapy, and family coordination.
Because the client is
highly sensitive to new faces
, continuity, a calm demeanor, and emotional intelligence are essential for success. Nurses who approach care with gentleness, respect, and strong communication will thrive in this setting.
Schedule
Weekly core shift:
Friday daytime,
6:30 AM - 7:00 PM
1-2 additional shifts per week
based on team coverage needs (may include
overnight shifts
, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
There may be opportunities to
pick up regular additional shifts
based on performance and fit with the client
Some availability over the Christmas holidays
is preferred
Part of a
24/7 care coverage model
with rotating day, evening, and overnight shifts available
Flexible scheduling options may be discussed based on experience and fit
Responsibilities
Deliver compassionate, high-quality nursing care to an elderly client with
complex medical conditions
(Parkinson's, cancer, swallowing/aspiration concerns)
Monitor, assess, and document changes in health status
Collaborate closely with the care team to ensure
continuity and consistency of care
Provide personal care, medication administration, and complex clinical interventions as required
Foster a calm, trusting relationship with the client and existing caregivers
Requirements
Active registration and valid practice permit with the
College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
Current
First Aid and CPR certification
Minimum
3 years of experience
in complex care, long-term care, or palliative nursing
Exceptional interpersonal skills with a gentle and empathetic bedside manner
Strong
