Job Description

Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a rehabilitation or acute care setting. Strong understanding of post-acute rehabilitation care, including pain management, mobility support, and recovery from surgery or injury. Excellent clinical skills, with the ability to perform nursing tasks accurately and efficiently. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate care and support to patients and their families. Physically able to complete all demanding aspects of patient/resident care and transport, e.g. walking, standing, bending, lifting, assuming awkward positions and standing for long durations of time. Must be able to understand written and verbal directions in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification or additional training in Rehabilitation Nursing or a related specialty. Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, such as Connect Care. Knowledge of Alberta's best practices and regulations related to post-acute rehabilitation care. Advanced skills in wound care, pain management, and therapeutic interventions.
