Your Opportunity:
We are looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in the Outpatients department. While working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary care team you will have opportunity to improve patient outcomes. Your excellent communication skills will help facilitate exceptional patient care. Your adaptability and critical thinking skills will help you adapt to the shifting needs found in our department. You will have opportunity to work in a range of specialty clinics while supporting surgeons and providing patient focused care. You will use your analytical skills to observe, document and respond to changes in health status. Your proficiency in intravenous catheter insertion and maintenance will assist you in preparing and administering various IV therapies to help enhance the wellness of our patient population.
Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and independence of nursing practice in a team environment. Relevant experience that demonstrates autonomous practice, such as recent experience (within the last 5 years) in outpatient, clinic, ambulatory care environment or IV therapy setting. Proven clinical skills including wound care, injections, IV insertion and phlebotomy. Ability to promote patient-centered care that demonstrates empathy for patients, and patient advocacy. Proven ability to organize and prioritize work.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Training and experience in the preparation and administration of IV medications.
