Northwood is currently accepting applications from LPNs to join our team in Halifax!

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nurses with pharmacological training.
• Licensed Practical Nurse registered in the Province of Nova Scotia.
• Recent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership duties.
• CPR certification is required
• Previous experience in gerontological nursing is an asset.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis according to the Northwood Corporate Standard.
• Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated the use of proper body mechanics and ability to perform heavy lifting.
• Ability to follow directions, seeks help when needed, and direct others as required.

Responsibilities:

• Resident checks and rounds (including, but not limited to vitals, breathing, incontinent round, safety rounds, narcotic, charting)
• Medication administration (includes processing Doctor\xe2\x80\x99s orders)
• Resident personal care (includes feeding/assistance, bowel care, dressing, wound care, blood work)
• Resident, family, and staff support (includes addressing questions and concerns, and assisting other Northwood workers)
• General duties and administration (includes mail, paperwork, ordering supplies, and assigning duties)
• Completes other tasks and duties as assigned

Hours: 84 hours bi-weekly (12 hour shifts)

Effective: Immediately

Salary: As per Unifor collective agreement
