Your Opportunity:
Our team provides holistic support to help people experiencing severe opioid dependence. We offer patient and family centered treatment plans to manage severe addictions. The Narcotics Transition Service offers an alternative to those who have not been able to initiate or stabilize on conventional treatment medications within our Opioid Dependency Program. As the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will have the opportunity to establish professional, safe, inclusive and respectful relationships with the clients, family members and the multi-disciplinary team. You will engage clients and families in a compassionate and non-judgmental approach regardless of life circumstance or diagnosis, conveying respect and dignity of all persons. You will be following the Narcotics Transition Services guidelines and will identify and initiate interventions within your scope of practice and in consultation with other health care providers. You will also exercise independent judgement regarding clinical needs and autonomously plan and implement necessary actions. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:

Mindfulness about cultural and gender diversity and positive regard toward clients. Experience with multi-cultural recovery pathways. Knowledge of an Indigenous language and culture. Knowledge of systemic issues such as poverty and stigma. Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Mental Health First Aid.
