Your Opportunity:Under general supervision of the Manager, Perioperative Services, this position is responsible for ensuring efficient operation of the Pre Admission Clinic. The responsibilities will include education and follow through of all patients requiring a pre-admission clinic appointment. The incumbent will be responsible for the gathering and review of relevant paperwork, preparing charts and contacting post-operative patients. Educational component will consist of pre and post-operative planning and answering questions regarding surgery. The Pre-Admission Clinic (PAC) Nurse will be expected to communicate effectively with the operating room manager, O.R. booking clerk, patients, surgeons and their offices. The PAC nurse will be responsible for follow up telephone calls and documentation on regional care map of all day surgery patients. The incumbent will also participate in quality monitoring activities.Description:As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current BCLS-HCP certification required. Ability to work within full scope of practice. Must be familiar with all other disciplines involved in patient care and have ability to communicate effectively with them. Must have ability to assess patient/client status and implement appropriate nursing interventions. Excellent time management skills (ability to manage time between clinic and office work). Preferred Qualifications:Compassionate and caring attitude. Attention to details. Critical thinking skills (assessment of patient charts and ability to identify discrepancy or criteria that may affect patient care). Displays a patient/client service attitude. Supports a respectful workplace. Ability to prioritize workload.
