Your Opportunity:Edson Healthcare Center has an exciting opportunity to work as an LPN on our Medical-Surgery unit. As an LPN on this unit, your duties focus primarily on providing care and safety for adults on our Medicine unit, with some of your duties also focused on providing care for patients who are either preparing for, or recovering from, a surgical procedure, as well as for post-partum patients. During an average shift, you would need to be prepared to administer medications, provide wound care and change dressings, assess the condition of patients, check vitals, update patient records, equipment operation (such as IVs, feeding tubes, catheters, and oxygen tanks), and to run blood tests on patients. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment due to the high volume of patients and intense work that revolves around surgical operations. Your amazing interpersonal and nursing skills enable you to provide excellence in high quality patient care in alignment with AHS\' core values. Because of your role, you are providing Albertans a higher quality of life and faster safe recovery on their health journey. As many patients may also suffer from one or multiple comorbidities, nurses on the med surg unit have a full understanding of all medical issues to properly treat their patients. Patients in med surg are often transferred there from more intense parts of the hospital (including ER and OR areas), and your adept nursing skills and quick, critical thinking abilities help you adapt to each patient\'s needs. In addition to being both popular and widespread, med surg nursing is a great way to get the much-needed experience to advance your career.
