The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides safe, effective, and ethical nursing care according to hospital policies and nursing care standards. Working within the full scope of practice, the LPN observes, monitors, reports, and documents changes in the patients physical, mental, and emotional state, assists the patient with activities of daily living and provides the patient and family with relevant information and teaching. Following the principles of Family Centered Care is critical for the pediatric inpatient and day patient unit where patients aged 0 - 18 years of age recover and rehabilitate from brain Injury, spinal cord Injury, and post-operative complex orthopedic procedures. Responsibilities include participation in activities and initiatives aimed at promoting, maintaining and improving quality care and safety for patients, families and caregivers. The Licensed Practical Nurse in this role is a member of the interdisciplinary team who facilitates collaborative planning with the patient and family, is reliable and maintains a high degree of professionalism.
