Your Opportunity:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides multiple services to our outpatient ambulatory surgical patients. The primary role consists of pre- and post-surgical care and assisting with procedures in our Colposcopy Clinic. This role also includes providing infusion support to our ambulatory oncology patients, preadmission clinic, assistance with other day procedures, and responsible for care of central venous access devices, PICC dressings, wound care and assessing the patient's learning needs for their care.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to withstand physical demands of lifting, pulling, pushing, transferring and transporting patients. Ability to stand for long periods of time and bending is required. Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and independence of nursing practice in a multidisciplinary team environment. Ability to withstand exposures due to cautery and laser procedures in the Colposcopy Clinic. Minimum 6 months experience in pre and post-surgical care.

Preferred Qualifications:

Surgical Daycare experience. Colposcopy clinic experience. Surgical pre-admission clinic experience. IV certification an asset.
