Position Summary




As a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Individual Support Program you will provide essential medical support and educational assistance to medically fragile students, ensuring their safety, health, and ability to access learning within the school.







Job Duties/Responsibilities



supporting medically fragile students in the Individual Support Program attending to the academic, behavioural and physical/medical needs of the students assisting with planning and adapting curriculum to meet the individual needs of students under the guidance of the teacher providing one-on-one and small group support utilizing alternative and augmentative methods of communication accompanying a student, on the bus, to and from school monitoring breathing rate and oxygen levels assisting students with personal care including g-tube feeding, deep suctioning and trachea care and toileting lifting and transferring a student using a mechanical lift


Education/Qualifications



a recognized diploma as a Licensed Practical Nurse registered with College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta two years related experience, preferably in an educational environment ability to work in complex environments requiring constant supervision of medically fragile students flexibility to undertake a variety of assignments excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills proven success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with teachers, parents and students who have special needs ability to perform physical activities including lifting, transferring and providing personal care as necessary


Rate of Pay



$29.44 - $34.42 per hour
