Licensed Practical Nurses in the Medicine Program work with a diverse patient population and are able to develop a well-rounded knowledge base of internal medicine. A mix of experienced and newer graduates provides an exciting and rewarding opportunity in an ideal environment to develop expertise. The incumbent participates in the provision of health care to patients by utilizing their critical thinking skills and working up to their full scope of practice (i.e. the administration of intermittent intravenous medications, monitoring of continuous IV medication infusions etc.). This includes, but is not limited to, performing various treatments and procedures; assessing the patient, planning their care based on the assessment, observing, monitoring, evaluating the effectiveness of care provided, reporting and documenting changes in the patient's physical, mental or emotional state; assisting the patient with activities of daily living; providing both patient and family with relevant information and selected education and performing other related duties as required and/or delegated. The Unit Manager supervises the position.
