Neurosciences units at University of Alberta Hospital is one of a kind within Alberta Health Services that provides specialized care that includes the management of acute strokes, brain injuries, brain tumors, spinal cord injuries and other neurological issues. The acute neuroscience/neurosurgery LPN works to full scope of practice providing nursing care for patients and families. This is done within a team-forward environment that prides itself in the multidisciplinary collaboration amongst NP\'s, RN\'s, HCA\'s, MD\'s, OT, PT, and SW, dietician and pharmacist. As such, a strong commitment to teamwork is reflected in our daily practice which relies on excellent inter-professional communication. Neurosciences ward units provide advancement opportunities including care required during insertion and/or management of drains, acute management of patients experiencing a stroke, spinal cord injuries and/or other acute neurological issues. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being.
