Your Opportunity:As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) on the Maternal-Child/Gynecology Unit, you will provide care within the scope of practice as defined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) to maternal-child and/or gynecology patients. The Maternal-Child/Gynecology unit is a 25-bed unit at Chinook Regional Hospital. The focus of care is Maternal-Child (postpartum women and their newborns), gynecology, and low-risk medical-surgical patients. This position is part of an inter-professional health care team utilizing nursing processes, crucial thinking problem solving and decision-making skills. The LPN accepts responsibility for continuing competencies through ongoing professional development including participation in education programs and quality improvement activities. The LPN position requires physical demands including lifting, pulling, and pushing, walking, standing, transferring, and transporting patients, and equipment on a frequent basis. When required, you may be assigned to aid other areas of Chinook Regional Hospital. Preference will be given to those candidates who currently work on the maternal-child unit.Description:As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1 year acute care nursing experience. Completion of all Required Organizational Learnings; record of the same required. Willing to orientate new staff and take preceptor students. Strong communication, problem solving and conflict management skills. Experience with NetCare and Connect Care. Preferred Qualifications:Current experience in the care of postpartum women and newborns in the last 3 years preferred. Experience in the care of low-risk medical-surgical patients an asset. Education in bladder scanning, IV initiation and management, IV drug administration, blood administration and management, and immunization preferred.
