Position: Casual LPN

Location: Castlegar, BC

Hours: 8 and 12-hour shifts, mornings, days, and nights

Wage: $28.70/hour - $30.13/hr; as per the collective agreement (commensurate with experience)

Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse aims to offer a welcoming, safe, caring, culturally relevant, and non-judgmental climate for individuals taking their first steps toward substance misuse recovery. Double-staffed and catering to 8 patients at a time, Axis provides a low-stress working environment utilizing a person-centered approach to meet the specific needs of each individual. This role is best suited for empathetic Licensed Practical Nurses with a keen interest in a harm reduction approach.

All services offered in the program are evidence-based and client-directed to focus on building strength and resiliency in the person served. Services include recovery planning, regular monitoring of withdrawal symptoms, medication management, peer support, counseling, and Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) when applicable.

This position also qualifies for the British Columbia student loan forgiveness program.

Education / Training / Experience:

• Graduation from an approved Practical Nursing Program

• Current registration with the BCCNM

• Approved criminal record check

• Writing, data collection, and facilitation skills are required

• Safe driving record, valid driver's license, and reliable vehicle

• Pre-employment drug testing is required
