ERHL is an Indigenous-focused primary health care clinic that offers wraparound healthcare to First Nations, Inuit, and Metis individuals and families. The goal of ERHL is to provide access to care that is safe and respectful of cultural beliefs. ERHL is made up of an interdisciplinary team providing medical support from physicians, nurses, and specialists. Connection to traditional FNMI healing and cultural services is supported by Elders/Knowledge Keepers. Social work, and outreach staff help clients with crisis support, resource navigation, case management, and advocacy. The vision of ERHL is to have healthy Indigenous communities that are connected and empowered to access healthcare. The LPN works within their scope utilizing the nursing process and in collaboration with the team to provide health services to patients throughout the life span with complex health needs including chronic disease, mental health conditions, and socio-economic challenges. Primary responsibilities will include general primary care nursing duties, procedures such as routine wound care, ear care, foot care, vaccinations, screening tests, other injections as ordered, phlebotomy, and overall support for clinical operations. In this role the LPN works both independently and as part of team which requires critical thinking and clinical skills in triaging care of complex clients in possible crisis situations, using internal and external resources while maintaining a patient and family centered approach. The LPN will consistently practice cultural sensitivity in a diverse, dynamic and fast paced environment.
Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge & respect for the diversity of Indigenous populations, communities, culture, and history. Successful completion of training, and experience in administering immunizations & performing phlebotomy. Experience working with complex high-risk clients, addictions, and mental health. Experience with an EMR system (WOLF preferred) and demonstrated aptitude with computers and technology required. Minimum 3 years in primary health care community clinic setting. Experience working with Indigenous people/communities. Experience with difficult clients and shown aptitude for de-escalation. This position will be part of Primary Care Alberta effective November 18, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated attention to detail & accuracy. Strong communication; ability to relay patient information to other health care providers in a timely, concise, accurate manner in order to facilitate treatment decisions. Ability to balance numerous demands & conflicting priorities. Recent skills with wound care assessment & management. Training in Stages of Change, Trauma Informed Care & Anti-oppressive practice an asset. Certification in and experience with foot care an asset.
