Your Opportunity:Under the direction of the Unit Manager, this position is responsible for working with a multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of outpatients being seen in our many different Ambulatory clinic areas. In these clinics the LPN provides nursing assessment, planning, implementation, education, IV therapy, and evaluation of care for the patient and their families. The successful candidate must have sound understand of medical protocols, medications and skills to adequately assess, triage, and deliver patient teaching and coordinate care in multiple clinics. The successful candidate will be working in multiple clinics such as respiratory, neurology, surgery, Home Parenteral Therapy Program (HPTP) and other clinics in ambulatory settings at PLC. The candidate must have effective patient assessment skills, attention to detail, organizational and time management skills to efficiently organize, prioritize, and delegate workload in fast-paced areas. The candidate must be certified in IV starts and IV medication administration. The candidate must be able to integrates patient and family centered care principles within own Nursing practice. The candidate must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. They must be able to work in a clinic area with competing pressures from different medical disciplines and demonstrated ability to function independently. The incumbent should have proven ability and effectiveness in conflict resolution skills. The incumbent must be able to work in a physically challenging environment: frequent walking/standing, lifting, bending is necessary in the clinic. Patient transfers, repositioning and transport (pushing/pulling/lifting >20lbs) is required. The successful candidate will need knowledge and experience specifically in acute medicine to provide safe patient care with strong knowledge base and critical thinking.Description:As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Recent within 2 years acute medicine or acute (in acute care hospital) ambulatory care experience is required. Strong IV skills and experience with administering IV medications (current certification) Immunization certification. Experience working with Connect Care. Experience working independently (working where an LPN\'s practice is not lead by an RN).
