The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) working within the Regularized Relief Team - Medicine may work on the following units: Unit 38 Medicine/Hematology Unit 39 Medicine/Pulmonary Unit 42 Medicine/Alternate level of care (ALC) Unit 43 Medicine /Med Psych Unit 44 General Medicine Unit 49 Medicine/Cardiology Unit 51 Sub-acute care Unit 53 Respiratory Unit Staff on these units provide inpatient care to acute medical patients. These units foster a strong collaborative team environment with Nurses, Physicians, Allied Health Professionals and Support Workers. These units have begun the process of adopting initiatives that are outlined in the CoACT model of care. In general, each unit targets a specific cohort of patients and a unit-specific orientation is required before providing shift relief on any of these units. In addition, the LPN staff within the Regularized Relief Team -Medicine will require an annual skills review based on the units he or she supports in addition to completing the Alberta Health Services Annual Compulsory Education (ACE). Reporting to the Manager Access, the LPN within the Regularized Relief Team - Medicine is responsible for providing patient care on a variety of units. The successful candidate should be committed to providing open communication and feedback with respect for colleagues, care providers, patients and families. This position offers the opportunity for both personal and professional development within a variety of teams. The LPN will also work as a member of a health care team, collaborating on the delivery of care to meet the needs of the patients/clients. The LPN participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care and should expect to work to their full scope of practice. This position requires the successful candidate to work eight (8) hour shifts.
