Your Opportunity:

In collaboration with an interdisciplinary health care team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) practices within their full scope providing direct care to patients with neurological impairments on the stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury rehabilitation teams. The LPN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients and families with the purpose of promoting, maintaining, or restoring health and preventing illness, injury and disability while facilitating the rehabilitation and recovery of function for their patients. Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills. Proven initiative, analytical thinking, and conflict resolution skills. Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a healthcare team environment. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrates ability to work as a member of a team and to give, request and accept direction as require. Intermediate computer skills including the use of connect care is a job requirement. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks: Lifting and transferring patients as required. Pushing and pulling items of approximately 50 kgs. Reaching horizontally or above the head. Walking, standing and/or sitting for extended periods. Preferred Qualifications:

Recent experience in rehabilitation nursing, neurosciences nursing or acute medicine/surgery preferred. Demonstrated continuing education in the area of neurosciences is preferred. Commitment to working on a dynamic health care team in advancing the care of neuro rehabilitation patients.
