Your Opportunity:The Clinical Trials Unit supports the Principal Investigators in conducting research studies at AHS/Grande Prairie Hospital and within the Edmonton zone. The Clinical Trials Unit is recruiting for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide support for clinical research trials. You will be assigned to work with Dr. T. Madzimure at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. The responsibility of this position includes identifying and recruiting participants in clinical research studies, obtaining informed consent, performing study visits as per protocol, dispensing study medication, collecting/entering data in clinical trial databases, and completing/filing of study documents in the Investigator Trial File. As an LPN, you will require exceptional organizational skills that are necessary to ensure trial information is timely, accurate, valid and to the sponsor's satisfaction. The main component of this role is to ensure clinical research studies are conducted according to the protocol and Health Canada regulations. As an LPN in the CTU, you shall harness professionalism and strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage and communicate with participants on the studies. It is vital that you demonstrate the insight of when to escalate/report participant clinical concerns to nursing staff and/or Investigator. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.Description:As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1-2 years experience working in a clinical research environment. Current/previous experience working in acute care or ICU setting. Highly motivated, self-directed, enthusiastic with proven problem-solving abilities. Demonstrates ability to take initiative and work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Ability to be flexible, multitask and work well under pressure. Effectively coordinate simultaneous projects and successfully prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines. Work efficiently and in a professional and ethical manner in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, GCP and ICH guidelines, SOPs and Policies. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Effective communication skills. Precise documentation skills. Knowledge of MS Word & Excel, Gmail, data entry programs. Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with Pharmaceutical Sponsors and Contract Research Organizations. Experience/training in Phlebotomy. Experience with Netcare & Connect Care.
