As part of the OKC team, the LHCC Coordinator will:

Provide opportunities for program delivery for the Licensed Home Child Care Program. Be under the supervision of the Manager of Licensed Child Care Programs but will be expected to work independently with clear guidelines defining their role.

Primary responsibilities

demonstrate respect for the diversity of individuals. Monitor and maintain home child care providers eligibility. Monitor for compliance with Health and Safety criteria set up by the respective regulatory bodies Direct, plans and participates in providing program development for parents, children and providers as well as providing guidance, consultation and follow-up as required. Ensures that educational toys and creative supplies are readily available in the providers home and that they are maintained in good order. Maintains and completes forms required for the LHCC records and Our Kids Count based on statistical data. Provides orientation with provider and ensures regular visits. Facilitates in the licensing of the Home Child Care Providers starting up and setting up their environment. Provides input into growing the program to encompass more Licensed Home childcare options for families. Maintains the One List and gets families connected to potential providers in a timely fashion. Assists Home Child Care providers to complete observation of children and share information with families to ensure developmentally appropriate activities are planned and share the child experiences with families. Supports Home Child Care providers with a plan for a child development program based on observation and child development theories- "How Does Learning Happen" by following the pedagogical approach to learning. models' appropriate communication skills to help develop positive relationships with parents, children, providers and community. provides Home Child Care Providers with information needed to support them in their parenting role, i.e. articles, books, referrals. aware of and attends professional development opportunities that will enhance their learning. open to new challenges, provide input into solutions that will enhance the programs at OKC. complete all required forms and ensure all information is forwarded to the appropriate place. Recommend new materials and toys for purchase for the providers. Be a role model and mentor to Licensed Home Child Care Providers. Provide input into recruitment of Licensed Home Child Care Providers. Provide training and is available to help promote the program at different community events. Participates in regular staff meetings as scheduled to recommend changes/additions to policies and procedures, to engage in conflict resolution with co-workers/families and report unresolved issues to the Manager of Licensed Child Care Programs. Provides opportunities for Home Child Care Providers to get together to network and brainstorm ideas which consists of bi-monthly meetings. Familiar with the Child Care and Early Years Act and it's regulations as well as the Home Child Care Manual. Excellent computer skills for reporting and managing the program. Ability to provide input into new policies and follow regulations. Travel to the district as required.

Education and Experience



Registered Early Childhood Educator / Home Child Care Visitor with Child and Family studies Credentials, Home Child Care visitor with other qualifications.

Minimum

two years' experience

working with children and families in licensed home or center daycares or in other related child and family experiences.

Conditions of Employment



Must have Personal vehicle and valid driver's license and ability to travel to visit homes- 2 million liability -

this is a must have - NON NEGOATIABLE

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 18 months

Pay: $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
