Position Summary



The Toyota Certified Technician (Licensed Heavy Duty Technician) diagnoses problems, performs repairs and provides preventative maintenance service on material handling and heavy equipment at a customer's site.



Specific Accountabilities



Performs repairs and services on various types of heavy duty equipment as well as material handling equipment and its components including but not limited to forklifts, stackers, electric carts, electric tow trucks, transporters. Performs preventive maintenance and Lift Device Inspection at prescribed intervals of time and repairs on various types of heavy duty equipment. Sound knowledge of utilizing electronic manuals, use of digital voltage meters and applicable diagnostic software for repairing/servicing of heavy duty equipment. Sound knowledge of electrical/electronic component diagnosis. Uses instruction manuals and wiring diagrams to diagnose components, and electrical wiring. Ensures work performed is verified and the truck returned to the customer clean and operational. Ensures customer work area is clean and free of debris, oil and grease. Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Work Experience



College diploma and/or completion of a trade school certification in heavy duty equipment. 3-5 years' experience as heavy equipment technician is required. A valid driver's license is required.



Experience repairing Toyota Products preferred. A valid driver's license and provincial propane license (ICE-IE-P or ICE-P) are required. Power Lift Truck License (PLT) is preferred.



Competencies and Skills



Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems of battery and Internal Combustion powered heavy duty and material handling equipment. Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles Knowledge of the use of hand tools and measuring devices Knowledge of the use of electrical/electronic diagnostic tools/measurements Effective analytical and problem-solving skills Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills Customer service oriented Ability to be flexible and work in a fast paced and changing environment

Working Conditions

A Toyota Certified Technician (Licensed Heavy Duty Technician) will work in a variety of environments depending on customer facilities such as a warehouse, shop, parking lot etc. Including varying temperatures and subjected to dust, dirt, grease and noise levels ranging from moderate to loud. Frequently works in a crouched position or on back lying on mechanic's dolly beneath motor vehicle equipment. Requires the ability to lift 50 pounds.
