MacEwan University is seeking a Library Technician I for a full-time opportunity with our Library Services department. You will be the first point of contact for students, faculty, and staff. Your role will be to support and facilitate the use of library collections by all borrowers in MacEwan libraries by issuing library/student identification cards, and ensuring that collections are circulated, shelved and maintained in an effective and efficient manner. It is essential for this role to have extensive knowledge of the Workflows module in Symphony ILS and education and experience.


Key responsibilities include:

Maintaining collection items, creating user records, and placing holds using the circulation module of the integrated library system; Providing instructional assistance with laptops, iPads, cameras, and other complex equipment in the Emerging Technology collection; Answering library account inquiries and providing in-depth information to students, faculty, staff, and members of the public about library borrowing policies and procedures; Conducting reference interviews with users who request assistance determining their information needs and providing guidance to enable them to successfully locate, use, and evaluate information resources; Assisting students, faculty, and staff with course reserves, interlibrary loans, and basic citation; Providing students with assistance in printing, troubleshooting basic issues, and escalating complex issues to Technology Support; Maintaining the organization of library collections by shelving materials according to the appropriate classification scheme and shelf reading the collection regularly; and Working collaboratively with the Library Services Unit to develop policies, procedures, and business forms.

QUALIFICATIONS



A minimum of a Library and Information Technology diploma from an accredited program. A minimum of 2 years of library experience, working with library technology. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
