Key Responsibilities:

Under the general supervision of the Library Information Support Supervisor, the Library Operations Support Technician will assist with technical support and problem resolution for the Library Services Platform, Discovery Service, and other related library applications. This position also serves students, faculty, staff, and the public by identifying and meeting their full-service project printing and finishing needs, circulating library material, providing reference assistance, and participating on the Library Makerspace team. This position will also provide acquisitions and cataloguing support to the collections team.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of library services platform administration.
  • Knowledge of electronic resources management workflow.
  • Knowledge of productivity and design software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe creative cloud applications.
  • Knowledge of the operation and processes involved with makerspace equipment and software.
  • Knowledge of bibliographic metadata standards and formats
  • Knowledge of documentation methods and practices pertaining to acquisitions, serials control, bibliographic verification and print and digital collections processing.
  • Ability to work well both independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to work effectively with technology in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities.
  • Ability to proactively acquire new technical skills in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of related customer service methods and techniques.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of grade twelve
  • Library Technician diploma from a recognized college or institute.
  • Minimum two years related experience.
  • Successful applicants will be required to complete certification on the current Library Services Platform.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Remuneration: $2,009.39 - $2,584.08 bi-weekly, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Library Technician II).

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement
