The School District
Nechako Lakes is situated on the traditional unceded territories of fourteen First Nations encompassing the Dakelh, Nedut'en and Wet'suwet'en peoples. The school district encompasses five municipalities, the Districts of Fort St James and Vanderhoof and the Villages of Fraser Lake, Burns Lake and Granisle. This large area served by our school district has a population of just under 40,000 residents in the beautiful north central BC.
We serve 3,000 students in our standard schools and approximately 900 FTE at EBUS Academy, one of the largest online schools in British Columbia. Qualifications
Bachelor of Education (secondary).
A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership with The Ministry of Education and Childcare.
Master's Degree in Library Science or completion of Teacher Librarian Diploma program or must be enrolled in a Diploma Program (UBC LIBE equivalent).
Diploma program requires a minimum of 6 credits completed each school year and entire program finished within 4 years.
Minimum 2 years teaching experience (TTOC included).
Expectations:
Collaboratively plan inquiry-based units of study with classroom teachers.
Teach information literacy to students within inquiry-based learning contexts.
Develop curricula that integrates information literacy, new media and new technologies.
Collaborate with teachers to strengthen literacy learning for all students.
Select quality resources and manage collections that support the curriculum, lifelong learning, and independent reading.
Teaching will be part of assignment, and may include prep relief.
