Local Government Legislation and Statute Law

Description: An introduction to the Saskatchewan legislation relevant to municipal government processes, procedures and authority. Topics include case law, statute law, contracts, preparation and interpretation of bylaws, interpretation of statutes, and detailed Study of Government of Saskatchewan Acts governing rural, urban and northern municipalities.
Position Requirements
Requirements: Candidates should have a Masters degree in a relevant area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A teaching dossier is not required when applying for this position.

LG instructors are asked to attend LG Advisory meetings (approximately two per year) as well as instructor team meetings as needed. LG instructors will be evaluated by students and feedback will be provided by Division Head after each semester to ensure high quality teaching and learning. Communication with other instructors in the LG program is encouraged to ensure transfer of knowledge and skills is consistent throughout the program.

Teaching and Curriculum Development Qualifications: This course will be offered in an intensive format for the specified dates. Candidates are responsible for ensuring course material and curriculum meets current municipal sector and University academic requirements. Candidates should have good understanding of post-secondary academic standards and have strong communication and analytic skills to provide clear and effective written feedback for students on assignments and exams.
