Duties and Responsibilities
Perform dental assistant duties such as preparing patients, instruments, and assisting the dentist during dental procedures
Record treatment information in patient records
Take and record medical and dental histories for new patients and maintain medical records
Provide instructions as prescribed by the dentist
Explain technical and medical information to patients
Assist with the development of dental treatment plans
Monitor dental supplies and equipment inventory
Operate X-ray and 3D scanning equipment to process radiographs for diagnostic purposes including, but not limited to, periapical radiographs, panoramic radiographs, buccal object rule, and cone beam CT scans. Performs necessary calibration tests on equipment as required
Provide leadership in infection control policies and procedures. Responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing of instruments. Maintains infection control logs as well as daily processing of biological indicators
Demonstrate competency in dental lab work including the taking of impressions, pouring, and trimming models
Maintain appropriate inventory of dental supplies and foster good relationships with dental supply companies
Effectively communicate patient treatment plans with the administrative staff

Qualifications and Experience
Level II Dental Assistant certification, including HARP certification, required
Over 5 years of experience working at a general and/or specialty dental practice is an asset
Knowledge of digital x-rays and intra-oral scanning is an asset
Experience with ClearDent software is an asset
