Belshore is dedicated to providing a safe and efficient work environment in the construction industry. We are currently seeking a qualified Construction Safety Officer to join our team for our upcoming industrial tilt up warehouse project.
Position Summary:
The Construction Safety Officer will play a crucial role in maintaining safety standards on the industrial site. The candidate must have a minimum Level 2 First Aid certification, an in-depth understanding of WorkSafeBC requirements, and be proactive in promoting a culture of safety. This role involves a mix of administrative responsibilities and hands-on work, including site cleanup and general labour tasks. Includes a dedicated office trailer equipped with safety supplies. Growing company with lots of change, policies and procedures will evolve.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Compliance:
Review and ensure adherence to WorkSafeBC regulations and company safety policies, continually striving to exceed compliance standards.
Risk Assessments:
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop effective risk management strategies.
Safety Programs:
Create, execute, and enhance safety programs, policies, and procedures to foster a safe work environment.
Training & Orientation:
Organize and lead safety orientation meetings and safety training sessions for tradesmen and site personnel.
Documentation:
Proficiently use Microsoft Programs to create and maintain safety-related documents, forms, and reports. Keep organized reports and documents of orientations, meetings, inspections, walk throughs, etc.
Site Management:
Engage in site cleanup and perform light labour tasks as required, maintaining a tidy and organized work environment. Ability to provide general labour on site.
Health & Safety Presentations:
Develop and deliver training sessions and presentations on health and safety matters to ensure all staff are well-informed and compliant. You are responsible for educating and increasing safety awareness of all workers and trades
Safety Supplies Management:
Maintain an organized and clean office trailer equipped with all necessary safety supplies.
Qualifications:
Level 2 First Aid certification is required.
Knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and safety standards.
Experience in construction safety is an asset, Industrial construction preferred but other construction experience is welcomed.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Word; ability to create and manage various documents and forms.
Experience operating a skid steer/telehandler or similar machinery is preferred.
Traffic Control Certification (prefferred, not required)
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively engage with tradesmen and site personnel.
