The Sunshine Coast Regional District is currently inviting applications for the temporary 0.60 full-time position (meaning about 3 days per week) of Legislative Assistant, due to an absence that is anticipated to be about 8 months or until the return of the incumbent. We are currently looking for a friendly and talented person to join our team. Under the general direction of the Manager, Legislative Services, the Legislative Assistant provides confidential administrative support to the Manger, Legislative Services, and the Corporate Officer, and performs a wide range of professional administrative duties under tight deadlines, requiring a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and discretion.

This is a bargaining unit position with a wage rate of $35.14 per hour, at about 21 hours, or 3 days per week. This position offers 4% vacation pay and 5% statutory holiday pay (after 30 days\xe2\x80\x99 employment) and will then expand to include 6% vacation pay and an additional $3.05 per hour cash-in-lieu of benefits, upon successful completion of a four-month probationary period with the SCRD. This position includes the following, on a pro-rated basis: annual sick leave and family responsibility leave, eyewear, and eye exams (after passing probation). Please note that current regular employees of the SCRD who post into temporary vacancies will retain, or receive, full benefit coverage.
